My musical taste is superior to yours

Probably my favourite indie band, Kiss Kiss, released their first album last week - Reality vs. The Optimist - and guys... Oh, guys. It's fucking brilliant. Inventive, unique, lively - everything I could have asked for. I've been waiting months for this and it's lived up to each and every single expectation (and then some)! 

Kiss Kiss is a small band on Eyeball Records in New Jersey - MCR's and Thursday's old label. They're a five-piece who apparently put on one helluva live show (I wouldn't know. I'm not from Jersey), and have a unique sound that can only be described as Queen meets The Dresden Dolls meets I don't even know what, but something with a fucking ELECTRIC VIOLIN!

I just can't sing their praises enough. Please do yourself a favour and check them out. Oh, and subscribe to their MySpace blogs; Josh (lead singer) updates regularly and has a pretty fucking rad sense of humour.

I went on there purevolume. I like them! But I don't think their album would be sold in Australia though... :(

I'm rather certain you can obtain it through iTunes, or if you'd prefer (or are boycotting iAnything like me) you can also purchase it through Amazon or a number of other online CD E-tailers listed on their MySpace and/or Purevolume page.

Additionally if you have HMV or another large American CD retailer in OZ they may be willing to order it for you at a higher price.

Lol. I don't live in the US either (Canada pwns, btw) so I actually called a few local record stores and emailed the band on MySpace to see how I could get my hands on a copy :)

I recommend you the HMV first (phone number should be in the phone book or online). If they can get it, they'll almost certainly have to order it and it will probably take a few weeks to ship from the states (we share the world's longest unprotected border and account for 1/5 of all American exports and they STILL said it would take 3 weeks to reach me).

And meh. I like being a geek (I totally looked up trade stats to answer this comment. Because I can).

I'm glad you liked Kiss Kiss. The feedback I'm been getting about them is good so far. I might have to start making more posts like this, when I occasionally dig up a small, relatively unknown band that's worth some attention. *grins*

I love hearing new music too. I find there's a lot of medicore out there - so much that it makes it extremely difficult to find the outstanding. Word of mouth is definitely the best research tool around.
